If the drive is sending to the system then the system will tell the drive to resend the given block no harm to the drive but your system will need to handle the repeating task which can slow down the system as well as cause the drive & CPU to heat up. So what hard is there in excessive CRC errors? Think of it like you're telling someone who is hard in hearing and they keep saying: "what did you say?" This gets into who is sending the data!
